Prerequisites For In-Person Training - **Includes new, COVID-19 related guidance**
- Dogs must be in good health, free of contagious diseases, and up to date on all age-appropriate vaccines. Owners must provide documentation of vaccines before the start of training. In the case of a sick dog, owners are encouraged to come to class without their dog to see what is covered that day. Owners must disclose all injuries in dogs as soon as possible to ensure safe training and handling.
- Owners will stay home if contagious (symptoms may include a cough, fever, shortness of breath, digestive upset, etc.)
- Everyone attending classes must follow all social distance guidelines, including covering their nose and mouth and maintaining a safe distance at all times.
- Owners will not allow their dogs to visit other dogs without instructor permission.
- Owners will clean up after their dogs.
- For group and outdoor classes, dogs must be on leash at all times unless the trainer instructs the owners otherwise.
- Dogs in heat are not permitted in group classes but can attend individual sessions with a trainer at an extra cost.
- The instructor reserves the right to expel dogs who show aggression towards people or other dogs. Private sessions may be recommended in these cases. Please be sure to disclose any aggressive tendencies that your dog may have to the instructor prior to registering.
Child Participation
- Children approved to participate in the training need a parent who is learning along with them.
- Children under 9 years of age must be able to sit quietly on the side to avoid disrupting learning. Young children must be supervised by an additional adult so the primary handler of the dog can devote their full attention to class.
- Children must abide by all instructions as laid out by the instructor during class for their own safety as well as the safety of the dogs and other humans. Failure to comply may lead to the instructor requesting the child's removal from class.
Payments/Refunds
- Classes must be paid for at the time of advance registration to hold a dog's spot. Failure to provide payment may result in canceled registration.
- Refunds for classes will be given if the request is received 24 hours before the class start time. No refunds will be given for requests received within the 24 before class starts or after the session has begun.
- Make-up classes are not typically available for missed classes. If arrangements are made in advance, the instructor may be able to meet with students fifteen minutes before class start time to go over what was missed. Private sessions are also available for an additional fee.
